The last few months have been difficult and challenging for us all, in a variety of different and interesting ways, and we all deserve a big trip away – and what better destination than the charming little townships of Nerja and Frigiliana, on the Costa del Sol?

There are all sorts of reasons to visit this wonderful part of the world, naturally, but if you’re keen to have a party (and why wouldn’t you be, after months in lockdown?), then know that all sorts of amazing fiestas and festivals take place in Nerja throughout the year.

You may not want to travel in 2020, and with talk of a second wave in Europe hitting headlines right now it may be wiser to wait to see what happens over the next few months, but Nerja and Frigiliana would be a great choice at any time of year if you want to experience some true-blue Spanish fiestas while on holiday.

The Three Cultures Festival, for example, takes place each year over the last weekend of August, bringing together the very finest in music, food and culture… so absolutely perfect for any eager holidaymaker in the area.

One month on and you’ve got the Feria de Nerja, which takes place every October. Expect concerts, processions, fairgrounds, children’s activities, float parades and a lot more.

So those are what you have left for 2020, if you do decide to travel this year, but if you want to go away in 2021, you’ll find yourself spoiled for choice, with the likes of the Nerja Carnival and Dia del Pedal, both in February, Residents Day in April, and all sorts of events taking place over Easter.
