Visit Nerja
The Spanish resort of Nerja is a stunning place to explore if you’re looking for a coastal getaway in Spain’s Malaga province.
While the beaches are beautiful with crystal clear water, there are plenty of other attractions to explore during your time staying in a luxury villa in Nerja Spain, as Trip101 recently pointed out.
No visit to Nerja would be complete without seeing the Balcon de Europa, for instance. This is a viewpoint, built on top of a promontory that overlooks the sea and the beach. The location was once home to a fort, which was positioned here to keep the town safe from pirates centuries ago.
It’s not just a place you go to admire the views though, as there are a number of restaurants and bars located here too, so it’s a good choice if you’re looking for an afternoon or evening away from your villa.
Another sight that’s worth exploring is the Nerja Caves. These stunning caverns stretch for some five kilometres and are full of impressive stalagmites and stalactites. The caves are a well-maintained visitor attraction and are even home to prehistoric cave paintings.
According to TripAdvisor, Nerja is a lovely place to visit because “it hasn’t been overtaken by high rises”, like some other famous Spanish resorts. This means it still retains much of its charm and traditional beauty.
The website also noted that the views across the Mediterranean from its promenade are impressive.
Another reason to choose Nerja for your Spanish getaway is that it’s home to some interesting monuments. One of the most photographed, according to Trip101, is the Eagle Aqueduct, which is located just a ten minute walk outside of the town.
The Mudejar style of the aqueduct makes it particularly striking and it’s been restored to its 16th century glory after suffering damage in the Spanish civil war.
